| On to Sutherland and WesterRoss. May 1st. We had a final drive around Orkney and dropped off our car in Stromness. Orkney was a good place to be initiated into driving on the ...other right side of the road since many roads are single track anyway. No dents! In the afternoon we borded the ferry bound for Scrabster and Thurso. It had rained a bit but now it was clear and perfect crossing weather. In the morning we were driven to the Thurso train station by our hostess. Now back in Inverness we are about to test our new driving skill in the jungle of big city round-abouts. Actually it went well. The car was at the airport so all we had to do was get on the A9 going in the right direction, grip the wheel and follow the big arrows on the piste. I must also give due credit to Emily our GPS for her clear and concise direction in proper English accent, no Scottish option :( . Once out of Inverness we headed for Lairg where we had planned to stay but the weather was fine now and the forecast was for Full Scottish Weather so we continued up Loch Shin to Kinlochbervie. Map |
